Child Safeguarding Statement
We do this by:
- Giving parents, children and employees information about what we do and what is expected from us.
- Making sure that our staff and volunteers are carefully selected, Garda Vetted, trained and supervised.
- Letting parents and children know how to voice their concerns or make a complaint if there is anything they are not happy about.
Designated Liaison Persons
At LeisureWorld we provide Designated Liaison Persons (DLPs) at each centre. The primary role of the DLP is to be available to any child or parent who has concerns under the Code of Ethics and under the Swim Ireland Child Protection Complaints Law.
On receipt of a complaint, the DLP meets with their counterparts to assess concerns with reference to the Code of Ethics and Code of Behaviour between workers and children.
The DLP may seek advice from Swim Ireland protection officers and if necessary from either the local Social Service or organisations such as the ISPCC.
The DLP and LeisureWorld have no role in investigating child abuse complaints, but the CEO must be informed of the involvement of statutory authorities in strict confidence.

Concerns about possible unsafe practice may be dealt with by LeisureWorld. The Designated Liaison Person must not reveal details that identify their sources unless the complainant has indicated that they may do so.
